Microsoft has announced the general availability of the Microsoft Graph (formerly “Office 365 Unified API”), which is a unified API endpoint for accessing data, intelligence and insights across the Microsoft cloud. The initial release includes Users, Files, Messages, Groups, Events, Contacts (personal), Mail, Calendar, Devices and other directory objects and docs.

Windows Store for Business is a web-based portal that IT decision makers, purchasers and administrators can use to find, acquire, manage and distribute Windows Store apps across their organisation’s Windows 10 devices.

Microsoft releases Operations Management Suite (OMS) agent for Linux

Microsoft has released the Operations Management Suite (OMS) agent for Linux. OMS is Microsoft’s simplified IT management solution that combines log analytics, automation, backup, and site recovery solutions across heterogeneous datacentres and public cloud environments.

The OMS agent for Linux enables real-time analytics for operational data (such as syslog, performance, alerts and inventory) from Linux servers, Docker containers, and monitoring tools like Nagios, Zabbix, and System Center Operations Manager.

Microsoft acquires Mobile Data Labs

Microsoft has announced that it has acquired Mobile Data Labs, creator of the MileIQ app and a provider of productivity solutions for mobile users. The Mobile Data Labs team will continue to build and offer mobile productivity solutions and look to take advantage of insights from Office 365 and the Office Graph.

Microsoft and Red Hat announce partnership

Microsoft and Red Hat have announced a partnership to provide unified support for customers running Red Hat solutions on Microsoft Azure. The partnership includes the availability of Red Hat solutions natively to Microsoft Azure customers; the co-location of support personnel for Red Hat offerings on Microsoft Azure; access to .NET technologies across Red Hat offerings; as well as integration between Red Hat CloudForms, Microsoft Azure and System Center Virtual Machine Manager to manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux on both Hyper-V and Microsoft Azure.

Microsoft releases Dynamic Data Masking for Azure SQL Database

Microsoft has announced the general availability of Dynamic Data Masking for Azure SQL Database version V12. Dynamic Data Masking (DDM) is used to limit access to sensitive data in the database by obfuscating it in on-the-fly in query results. The logic of which fields to mask and how to mask is stored in the database. DDM can also limit data access by personnel that connect to production databases for maintenance or troubleshooting purposes.
