Microsoft releases Windows 10

Microsoft has released Windows 10 as a free upgrade in 190 countries. The new release is intended to deliver a single platform, store, and experience across the broadest range of devices from the smallest screens to the largest screens to no screens at all. Windows 10 delivers new capabilities to PCs, tablets, phones as well as Raspberry Pi and includes Microsoft Edge, Cortana, Continuum and Windows Hello. It also and enables Hololens and Surface Hub devices.

Microsoft announces Azure Rights Management support for iPad and iPhone

Microsoft has announced that Azure Rights Management now supports Office for iPad and on iPhone devices. The release allows rights protected documents on iPad and iPhone to be viewed natively within the Office application (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). The ability to create, edit and publish rights protected documents is not supported at this time.

Microsoft releases Exchange Server 2016 Preview

Microsoft has announced that the Preview version of Exchange Server 2016 is available for download. The architecture has been revamped to incorporate aspects of the cloud based version of Exchange that is used in Office 365 and includes significant updates to the Outlook Web App as well as a range of other improvements.

Microsoft releases Visual Studio 2015 and .NET 4.6

Microsoft has announced that Visual Studio 2015 and .NET 4.6 are available for download. Visual Studio 2015 has made improvements to productivity across debugging and diagnostics, code editing and refactoring, and programming languages. Along with .NET 4.6, Microsoft has also made ASP.NET 4.6 available, which adds support for HTTP/2, the newest C# features and the new Entity Framework 6.1.3.

Microsoft has announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire FieldOne Systems LLC (“FieldOne”), a provider of field service management solutions that allow organisations to manage and deliver service to their customers in the field. FieldOne is offered as a cloud service and has been built to leverage Dynamics CRM.

Microsoft releases Windows SDK for Facebook

Microsoft has announced a new open source library for integrating Facebook into Windows apps. The Windows SDK for Facebook is geared towards app developers creating Universal Windows apps on both desktop and phone. The SDK supports universal Windows app for Windows Phone 8.1, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. The library supports integrating Facebook Authorisation, Like, Graph and other Facebook functionality into apps. This library is fully native, which makes it CLR independent.
